As Sudan continues to face one of the world’s most severe humanitarian emergencies, the call for inclusive, coordinated, and sustained action has become increasingly urgent. The ongoing conflict has led to widespread famine, mass displacement, and grave human rights abuses, placing immense pressure on communities and aid systems alike.

On 23 April, The Hague Humanity Hub hosted a Critical Dialogue focused on the crisis in Sudan. The event brought together a wide range of Netherlands-based actors, including humanitarian organisations, private sector representatives, and advocacy groups. Together, they explored how different sectors can contribute to more effective and locally-informed responses to complex humanitarian challenges.

Throughout the session, participants reflected on the risks and responsibilities involved in engaging in Sudan. They also discussed how to strengthen collaboration and foster solidarity with Sudanese-led initiatives operating on the ground. The conversation emphasized the importance of critical thinking, mutual learning, and long-term partnerships that center the voices and leadership of those most affected by the crisis.

By creating a space for open dialogue and shared reflection, the event highlighted the growing need for cross-sector cooperation and a renewed commitment to supporting sustainable, locally-driven humanitarian solutions.
